I generally fly my drones from my backyard and both sides obstruct my drone path with trees. I wanted to find out how much difference it really made so I sent my mini 3 up for a quick test.
It didn’t take long to find out it makes a big difference. I was flying at about 250′ high and when I hit 2230′ out I started losing connection to the drone so I didn’t take any chances I brought it home. I may try later with max height of 395′ and see if that makes any difference.
